Saturday morning, May 30, 2015, started out normal enough. Several members of the Columbia County Democratic Party were scurrying to the designated meeting place at the CWA Union Hall on Leigh Street. It wasn’t long before drinks were on ice, green beans were seasoned and cooking, and the fish was frying. Simultaneously, the building was transformed into an upscale dining room. Laughter, comradery, and old school music filled the air.
By 11:10, the first patron arrived and was cheerfully served. Over the course of the next several hours, more than two hundred patrons enjoyed golden fried fish (Tilapia or Whiting), hush puppies, cole slaw, and wonderfully seasoned green beans. Included in the meal was cake and a drink. There was not one disappointed patron.
The CCDP appreciates the CWA for allowing us to utilize their facilities, the community at large for their support, and the membership for donating their time, talents and supplies. What a great way to spend a perfect Saturday!
